AI科学梦撞上2050亿美元帐单！Google为何急着调整哈萨比斯职务

Google DeepMind 共同创办人哈萨比斯 (Demis Hassabis) 是 AI 时代最具代表性的人物之一。Google(GOOGL-US)早在他创立 DeepMind 仅 4 年后便看中其潜力，将这家原本位於伦敦的小型新创公司纳入旗下。如今，DeepMind 已成为 Google 与 OpenAI、Anthropic 及中国 AI 业者争夺领先地位的核心力量。

然而，Google 本周三宣布重大人事调整，哈萨比斯卸下 Google DeepMind 执行长职务，转任董事长；Alphabet 首席科学家 Jeff Dean 则离职创业。消息引发投资人疑虑，拖累 Alphabet 股价下跌。

CNBC 专栏指出，哈萨比斯职务转换看似突然，实际上却是自然发展。真正值得注意的，是这项调整揭露 Google AI 策略内部长期存在的矛盾：哈萨比斯希望利用 AI 改变科学研究，Google 却必须加速将技术商品化、扩大规模并创造收入，才能证明每年投入数千亿美元具有合理回报。

哈萨比斯追求科学突破将 AI 视为终极研究工具

哈萨比斯长期明确表达自己发展 AI 的目标。他去年 12 月接受《CNBC》科技 Podcast《The Tech Download》专访时表示，之所以将整个职涯投入 AI，是因为他相信 AI 最终将成为「科学的终极工具」。

在哈萨比斯领导下，DeepMind 已完成多项重大突破，包括击败世界顶尖棋士的围棋系统 AlphaGo，以及能预测蛋白质三维结构的 AlphaFold。后者有助科学家理解疾病与加速新药开发，也让 AI 从电脑科学研究跨入生物医学领域。

哈萨比斯坦言，若没有 Google 提供的庞大运算能力及自研晶片，这些成就不可能实现。他也持续推动通用人工智慧 (AGI)，也就是能在多数认知任务上达到人类水准的 AI。哈萨比斯在宣布转任董事长的文章中表示，他相信 AGI 已「近在眼前」。

卸下日常营运工作后，哈萨比斯将把更多时间投入 AGI 的策略及全球性议题，并为接掌主要职责的 Google DeepMind 资深副总裁 Koray Kavukcuoglu 提供建议。他也将投入共同创办的 AI 药物研发公司 Isomorphic Labs。

曾撰写 DeepMind 相关著作《The Infinity Machine》的作家马拉比 (Sebastian Mallaby) 认为，哈萨比斯的决定并不反常。他指出，哈萨比斯当初即使面对 Facebook 提出更高收购价，仍因重视 AI 安全而选择将 DeepMind 卖给 Google，之后还曾与 Alphabet 交涉长达 3 年，争取由外部机构监督 DeepMind 的 AI 部署。这次转换角色，可视为他重新回到 AI 安全及长期研究的一面。

年砸 2050 亿美元 Google 不能只追求科学理想

尽管 DeepMind 的科学研究仍在推进，如今的 AI 竞争环境已与过去截然不同。Alphabet 今年计划支出最多 2,050 亿美元，在投资人高度检视大型科技公司资本支出之际，Google 同时还得面对 OpenAI、Anthropic、云端运算巨头及中国 AI 业者的激烈竞争。

哈萨比斯去年 12 月形容，当前竞争环境极为「残酷」。CNBC 专栏认为，这反映 Google 虽仍支持 DeepMind 进行科学研究，但激烈竞争正在迫使公司更加重视 AI 商品化、营收变现及产品推出速度，同时确保技术能力不落后于对手。

这项转变其实早已开始。哈萨比斯此前透露，他几乎每天都会与 Google 执行长皮查伊 (Sundar Pichai) 讨论策略议题，在维持 AGI 长期目标的同时，也设法提高产品推出速度。Google 认为，自己过去将研究成果转化为产品的步调一度落后竞争对手，因此必须缩短从实验室到市场的距离。

新组织架构可能延续研究与营运分工，但让 DeepMind 与 Google 产品业务进一步整合。哈萨比斯专注 AGI、科学研究与长期安全问题，Koray Kavukcuoglu 则承担更多日常管理及落实商业策略的责任。

对 Alphabet 而言，这种安排有助保留哈萨比斯的研究愿景，同时建立一套更能迅速推出产品、扩大用户及产生收入的营运体系。问题在于，科学研究需要时间、谨慎与长期投入，资本市场却要求 Google 尽快证明巨额 AI 支出能转化为成长与获利。

科学探索撞上全球竞赛 Google 只能务实前进

哈萨比斯在《CNBC》专访中谈到是否应放慢 AGI 研发速度时，坦言目前身处一个极为复杂的地缘政治与企业竞争体系，不只许多公司试图打造 AGI，各国政府也投入这场竞赛。

他认为，在最理想的情况下，AGI 应是一项纯粹的科学探索，每一步都经过审慎考量；但现实世界并非如此，DeepMind 只能务实面对竞争环境，并在推进更先进 AI 的过程中，尽可能采取负责任的做法。

这番话正好点出 Google 此次人事调整的核心。哈萨比斯希望将未来重心放在科学突破、AGI 长期策略及安全治理；Alphabet 则身处一场不能落后的全球 AI 竞赛，必须更快推出产品、抢占市场并回应股东对投资报酬的质疑。

因此，哈萨比斯转任董事长不只是个人职涯调整，更像是 Google 重新划分科学理想与商业现实之间的界线。Google 既需要哈萨比斯继续探索 AI 的长期可能性，也需要更强的营运领导将研究成果迅速转化为产品与收入。如何在两者之间保持平衡，将决定 Alphabet 投入 2,050 亿美元后，能否真正成为全球 AI 竞赛的赢家。
