网路社群近期热议有民众晒出超过4万元的夏季电费帐单，引发许多网友对电费暴增的疑虑。对此，台电今（18）日澄清，经比对该用户近3年「同期」帐单，其单期用电量皆高达约6000度，为一般住宅用户夏季平均用电量的7倍以上。由于国内电价费率落实「使用者付费」原则，采累进费率计算，用电量越高的用户自然会以较高单价计费，导致总金额明显拉升。台电指出，我国自1989年起实施夏月电价制度，每年6月至9月例行调整，主因夏季气温升高导致冷气空调需求大增，借此反映高负载时期的供电成本并鼓励民众节约能源。根据台电统计，
