美国财政部长贝森特（Scott Bessent）周日（30日）表示，美国财政部可能每周公布新的次级制裁措施，以加大对伊朗的经济压力，初期将锁定银行。
根据《路透》报导，在美国周五（28日）以涉嫌与伊朗存在金融关联为由，对在阿拉伯联合大公国的埃及国营银行Banque Misr分行实施制裁后，贝森特表示，下一步可能是将相关金融机构彻底排除在以美元为基础的金融体系之外。
贝森特在G20财长与央行总裁会议召开前表示：「未来你们每周都会看到更多这类措施。我们将从银行开始，并告诉银行，持有伊朗资金以及协助伊朗政权都是不可接受的。」
贝森特表示，他打算向G20财长及央行总裁强调这项讯息，要求各国切断与伊朗的经济联系，否则就可能面临次级制裁。
